It takes courage to start fresh in a new country. The Building Citizenship program offers a special welcome to those who choose to make Canada their home.
Building Citizenship is a national network of volunteers who organize citizenship ceremonies in their communities, in partnership with Citizenship and Immigration Canada. By bringing the ceremony into the community, and including a unique roundtable discussion and a reception to celebrate afterwards, our ceremonies make it easy for new citizens and more established Canadians to connect with each other.
Roundtable Discussions
Roundtable discussions are at the heart of the ICC's community citizenship ceremonies. At every table sits a mix of new citizens and more established Canadians. They share their stories, compare their experiences, and reflect on what it means to be an active and engaged citizen.
