Building Citizenship volunteers generously give their time, energy and passion to organizing ICC community citizenship ceremonies across the country. Get involved in welcoming new citizens to your community!
Join a Building Citizenship Committee
- Work with a committee of like-minded individuals in your community to organize Building Citizenship community citizenship ceremonies
- Ideal for individuals who enjoy, and have experience in, event organization
- Volunteers must possess excellent organizational skills, work effectively as a team, and are relied upon to fulfill their responsibilities with the committee
- The time commitment is generally 10-12 hours per ceremony (1-2 ceremonies/year)
Be a Roundtable Discussion Facilitator
- Participate in a Building Citizenship community citizenship ceremony by facilitating roundtable discussions with new citizens
- Ideal for individuals who have experience working with diverse groups and are comfortable facilitating discussion
- Excellent communication skills required
- Time commitment is 3-4 hours per ceremony (1-2 ceremonies/year), held on weekdays
Provide Event Support
- Volunteer for a local Building Citizenship committee on the day of a community citizenship ceremony (possible tasks include note-taking, greeting and directing guests, preparing and taking down the venue, or preparing food)
- Ideal for individuals who would like to contribute to the mission of the ICC's Building Citizenship program, but can only commit a limited amount of their time
- Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work with the public required
- Time commitment is 4-5 hours per ceremony (1-2 ceremonies/year), held on weekdays
