Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day from the Institute for Canadian Citizenship and the Cultural Access Pass! Canadians are known to dress all in red and white, paint their faces and spend the day outdoors with friends, family, and sometimes their whole communities! Most cities offer free concerts, BBQ, and fireworks! Of all the places in Canada, Ottawa is the place to be on Canada Day! The biggest party is on Parliament Hill! Visit Ottawa Tourism's website to find out about events, activities and places to stay! Use your VIA Rail discount to take the train and enjoy Canada Day in the capital! See below for the few celebrations that are happening around Canada but check out your city's website to see what is going on near you!

Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, opens its doors today in Calgary! We are very excited to announce that they are the latest attraction to join the Cultural Access Pass. Music lovers of all ages can play, rock and discover something something new as they explore the National Music Centre's exhibitions!

The Varley Art Gallery

"Visualizing a Culture for Strangers: Chinese Export Paintings from the Nineteenth Century Organized and Circulated by the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria"

This exhibition running from May 29- September 6, 2016 showcase the extensive and diverse subject matter of Chinese export painitings of the ninteenth century. Produced in trading posts for sale to Western customers, these collectible works were exported to Europe and later America, illustrating the visual world of China desired by Westerners. Looking for ways to volunteer?

Citizenship ceremonies are powerful, authentic and emotional!

Get involved in welcoming new citizens into your neighbourhood! Our building Citizenship program relies on a national network of volunteers to organize special community citizenship ceremonies with unique roundtable discussions. Our volunteers are crucial to running this program.

Announcing 6 Degrees

Two days and three nights of culture, debate and dialogue focused on inclusion and citizenship in the 21st century! For the next six months, ICC co-chairs the Rt. Hon. Adrienne Clarkson and John Ralston Saul, and the ICC’s CEO Charlie Foran, will take part in a new Globe and Mail essay series called 6 Degrees: Experiments in Pluralism.
