When does my pass expire?

One year from the date on your citizenship certificate. You can register for CAP at any time during your first year of citizenship.

How much does it cost?

CAP is a free program created by the Institute for Canadian Citizenship and our cultural partners.

1. Where can I pick up my pass?
Your Cultural Access Pass can be printed and picked up at any of the designated CAP Pickup Locations across the country. CAP Pickup Locations are listed here.
2. Where can I use my pass?
You can use your pass at any of the 1,200 CAP attractions as many times as you like during your membership. The CAP Attractions Directory is the only place where you can see the full list of places to visit for free as a CAP member. You can also use your pass for travel discounts and national park entry. See ongoing offers.
3. Can my child sign up for CAP?
No. Children 17 years and younger cannot apply for their own Cultural Access Pass, but your children can accompany you to CAP attractions if you are a CAP member. Each CAP member can bring up to four dependents 17 years of age or younger when they participate in CAP.
4. I lost my confirmation number – what do I do?
Please check your email inbox and junk mail folders for your confirmation number. Do not attempt to re-register for the program (the registration system will not accept a duplicate registration). If you are unable to find your confirmation number, email us at cap@icc-icc.ca

To be eligible for a Cultural Access Pass©® (CAP), an individual must be both:
  • A Canadian citizen, who received their citizenship within the last 365 days;
  • and 18 years of age or older.

Terms and Conditions of Use
  • All information provided by the individual during the registration process must be true.
  • CAP grants complimentary admission to participating attractions for CAP members and up to four of their minor, dependent children.
  • CAP is not transferable.
  • CAP may not be valid for special presentations and events, parking or separately priced exhibitions or programs.
  • When using CAP, members agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the participating attractions.
  • A CAP membership card cannot be altered in any way.
  • Handwritten CAP membership cards are invalid and will not be accepted at participating attractions.
  • CAP membership applications are verified by designated CAP Pickup Locations across the country via cross referencing registration information with government issued citizenship certificate and photo identification.
  • Photo identification must be presented with the CAP membership card each time a CAP member wishes to use their pass.
  • Participating attractions and offers are subject to change without notice.
  • A CAP membership can be cancelled at any time at the discretion of the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC) (the organization that manages the Cultural Access Pass program).
  • Registration for and participation in the CAP program are subject to ICC’s Privacy Policy.
